Workshop 9 – Gardening 101

Since starting Hobby House Qatar this March its been a dream to host a gardening workshop. Unfortunately though the desert summer started to sneak in on us slowly and my only option was to wait for cooler days to come to host this fun and hands on project.

With months of prep in place and conversations with multiple gardening experts in the city I finally got hold of the very talented Kim Wyatt A.K.A @Mamababaganoush to spare us some of her valuable time to share her knowledge on gardening.

Kim has been a resident of Qatar for the past 6 years and has been growing her very own veggies and herbs in her lovely lush garden. She’s also a food writer and hosts a fun food show on YouTube show in collaboration with Iloveqatar.net

Our very first Gardening Workshop @hobbyhouseqatar was scheduled last month just in time as growing season commences in Qatar. Here’s a glimpse in pictures of a fun morning spent talking about soil, growing organic, seeds and conducive temperatures, plants that survive the desert, caring and watering, planting from seed to repotting. All in all it a fantastic educational morning spent with some very enthusiastic home growers.

We ended the workshop with a quick no nut pesto mix that every one got to take back home. The basil was straight out of Kim’s edible garden and was a demonstration of how easy it is to use home grown produce.
