Staycation @The Ritz Carlton Doha

Summer for us was 3 months long and full of travel. From a month in Amsterdam to 3 days in Zagreb to a 15 day road trip around Spain we did it all with brief periods of being in Qatar. Never in my 11 years of living in the desert have I ever been out of the country for this long a period. But since becoming a mom staying in Doha in 40 degree heat with a hyper active then baby now toddler was just not an option. That said anyone mom would tell you the truth about being on a holiday with kids is that you need a holiday after a holiday. Right enough then when we were offered a staycation at the newly renovated The Ritz Carlton Doha I jumped at the offer and immediately cleared out our schedules to get some down time without having to leave the city.

Amelie and I were super excited the day of check in and got there in time with our bags while hubby was meant to follow us later that night after work. Right from the moment our cab pulled up at the main entrance I knew we were in for a treat. Amelie as always made a grand entrance and was carried in by one of the bell boys. She was obviously feeling very much at home already which to me was a good sign.

We had a staff member greet us at the door and take us through the check in process. It was going to be a weekend of personalized service and I honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Key in hand we were taken up to our room and boy here’s where they got all my attention.

The room definitely bigger than my first apartment was an absolute stunner. The staff had laid out little treats for us through the room. I’ll start with the one that stole my heart an elephant made of towels that was specially for Amelie. A tray full of cup cakes, and an edible family pic was right there to greet us with the sweetest little personalized note.

Moving on to the bed room which was right about the size of my first apartment was no short of space. A walk in closet, a 55 inch TV, a bed that was fit for a queen, a lounge chair that had my name on it and a double equipped bathroom splashed with marble from ceiling to floor. One glance at the bath tub and I knew where I was going to be spending my evening post all my mama duties.

This room also came with a view of the beautiful city of lusail and its green blue water ways. We had check in just some before the sun was going to bid goodbye and so the sunset view from our room was spectacular which made it just perfect to stay in and chill to soak in all of the staycation time.

Our executive club room also gave us club lounge access and never have we have been to any lounge such as the one at The Ritz. The grandeur and interiors are so on point and gave me some serious interior inspiration. Situated right on top of the tower on 23rd floor this space is where gentlemen and ladies indulge in a good chit chat, while sipping on wine in leisure. 5 meals are served here though the day and the selection of food and drink is endless. The staff are the sweetest and instantly made friends with Amelie. Since we it was still the end of September and the temperatures were in the highs we spent lots of our time indoors on the staycation and this was our perfect family chill space.

Through our weekend stay we indulged in a ton of activities and of course a Friday Brunch was in order.

The Ritz Carlton Farmers Brunch is every parents dream. It’s a one stop shop for great food, naughty drinks, music – live band, play area for kids and the best part a petting zoo that includes a pony ride. Yes all this in Doha under one roof. Food stations include live grill counter for made to order fish and meat cuts, a lox bar, an avocado station which was a trip to heaven, an Arabian cheese market stand, a salad bar, a sushi stand…. oh the list goes on. At the desert section there were gigantic pastries and a picnic table for kids to decorate their own cupcakes.

Brunch is priced at QAR 399 with sparkling wine, QAR 349 with alcohol, QAR249 with soft beverages & QAR 110 for kids 5-12 years old.

Now after all that food I had gobbled down all I wanted was a place with some peace and quite where I could disappear for a few hours leaving Amelie to spend some quality daddy time 🙂  I booked myself a spa treatment cause god knows my sun burnt skin from our road trip in Spain was in need of some serious TLC.

The Spa

Recently renovated or re imagined as the brand terms it The spa has been given a whole new theme and look. The deep history of Qatar being a pearl diving hub has been paid homage to and this essence of the Arabian heritage is what you can expect to see through the extensive spa space.

I got a facial that was heavenly. My therapist was extremely gentle and polite and gave the best head and neck massage ever. The products used at the spa are by a UK based brand called ESPA that use their knowledge of  traditional holistic therapies in combination with the scientific power of the purest natural ingredients from around the world.

Another activity that I enjoyed very much was a cooking course at –

The Ritz Carlton – Culinary Academy led and taught by head Chef Will Kalra. Since taking the course on grilled meat I’ve been able to replicate quite a few of the dishes taught and have only heard praises from our guests at home. The Culinary Academy class happens every Saturday from 10:30 to 1pm. You can buy vouchers for a one day course,3 days of 5 day course, details of which can be found in this link – The-culinary-academy

Our stay at The Ritz Carlton Doha was nothing short of spectacular from the time we entered in to our check out everything was so easy and comfortable. The beds soft as a cloud gave us the much needed rest our tired bodies needed. The staff that all so child friendly really did make our stay a little more enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a luxurious getaway without having to leave the city The Ritz Carlton is just the place to be at. For more information check out – Room Rates

I highly suggest booking the club room package that includes Club lounge access for 2 people at 100 QAR per day/per person. With 5 meals served that includes drinks and refreshments through the day it is the best deal you’ll find in the city to enjoy some perfect family time.

This post is in collaboration with The Ritz Carlton Doha. We thank all the ladies and gentlemen of the establishment for making our stay so memorable. #RCMEMORIES.
