A few weeks ago I was invited to try Chef Marco Arlotti’s new winter menu additions to Il Teatro at The Four Seasons, Doha. Having only given birth to a little baby girl 2 weeks ago I was slightly skeptical of leaving her to attend the event however I had to switch back my blogger brain and tell my self that the show must go on. Looking back now I am so happy I did so, cause boy did I enjoy the evening.
As I walked into the beautifully lit restaurant I was greeted by a warm hostess who guided me to a stunning looking table set outdoors. The weather being just perfect right now added to the ambience and the excitement of trying the lovely winter menu that was loving prepared by Chef Marco & team awaited us.
Course 1 :
Sautéed Octopus on creamed chickpeas with fries salad, confit tomatoes garnished with squid ink crisps.
This was my favourite dish of the night. The meaty octopus and the different textures on the plate made it extremely interesting for the palate.
Ricotta and chestnut stuffed cappelletti with black truffle
I have to say that in spite of me not really being a big fan of chestnuts I really enjoyed the dish and the hint of truffle in it. Most of the other bloggers thought it was the best dish that was served out so If you love your chestnuts and truffle I highly recommend you try this deliciously creamy pasta dish.
Red mullet (a locally sourced fish thats called sultan Ibrahim)stuffed with prawns in a vanilla emulsion with pistachio cream. Served with white asparagus and rice crisps.
Another lovely plate served with perfectly done dish. The pistachio cream was so yummy I think I could drink a bowl of it.
White chocolate, ricotta, mascarpone and cherry cannoli.
A stunning not so little dessert by Chef Marco Arlotti. Freshly fried crispy cannoli dough 🙂 Simply beautiful!
This four course menu will set you back by 335 QAR which according to me is pretty reasonable for Doha standards. Plus I think if I went back I could easily skip a dish and still be full. Il Teatro has always been looked at as a fine dining restaurant which it is for the quality of food, service and ambience it offers however the prices are reasonable and is a definite contender for one of Doha’s finest Italian restaurants.
If you do happen to make a reservation I suggest asking for a table on the terrance as its super romantic. Also great for dining with an intimate group of friends of course.
